FYI from the Nurse

1) When students go on field trips, the only medications I am able to send are the EPIPENS, (not the Benadryl), INHALERS and any Prescribed DAILY MEDS. The Massachusetts Dept. of Public Health sets regulations and we are unable to send the Tylenol and Motrin that children have for routine headaches, etc.

2) We have some important Town Wide Policies I would like to bring to your attention. One is the Life-Threatening Allergies Policy and the other one is the Wellness Policy. These both promote healthy environments for your children. You can review these policies online.

We have a nut free table in our cafeteria which is washed in between the lunches. It is marked with a sign if your child would like to utilize this table. Also I am reminding parents to refrain from sending in birthday "treats" to be passed out at lunchtime. Birthdays can be celebrated outside of school.

3) FLU UPDATES - Our LPS website now has a link devoted to the Flu and how to stay healthy and updated.

We are in the midst of the FLU season. Please refer to the link above as recommendations do change. I would like to remind you to keep your child home if he/she is sick. If they have a fever of 100 or greater they must stay home until they are FEVER FREE WITHOUT ANY TYLENOL OR IBUPROFEN for 24 hours! Please adhere to this practice as this protects your child, your family and the Diamond Community.
